Zelensky's former chief of staff says in letter to New York Post that he doesn't want to cause trouble for the President
Andriy Yermak, the former chief of staff to the Ukrainian President, has announced that he will be going to the front lines. He made the decision public in a message sent to The New York Post, explaining that he does not want to cause problems for President Volodymyr Zelensky and therefore has chosen to step down and engage directly on the front lines.
He has not given details on when or how he will join Ukrainian forces, but has hinted that the decision is irreversible.
Yermak expresses disappointment at the public attacks against him and especially at the lack of support from those who, according to him, know the truth.
"I am disgusted by the mud being thrown at me and even more disgusted by the lack of support from those who know what is really happening," he wrote.
Resignation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a message published on his Telegram channel, has announced plans for a "refresh" of his office, with his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, submitting his resignation.
Zelensky confirmed that Yermak officially submitted his resignation today.
"I am grateful to Andriy for always presenting the Ukrainian position in the negotiations as it should be. This has always been a patriotic position. But I want there to be no rumors and speculation," he said.
Zelensky added that tomorrow he will hold "consultations" on who could take over the post of chief of staff.
He explained that this step comes at a time when Ukraine needs "internal strength", on the eve of important talks related to a possible peace agreement.
