Sitting and handcuffed, wearing a white suit (probably pajamas), surrounded by American soldiers inside a plane.
This is how former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro appears in the first photograph taken after his capture by US special forces.
Earlier, in an interview with Fox News, US President Donald Trump said that the Venezuelan president and first lady are being held captive on the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima and are heading to New York to face prosecution for drug trafficking.
He also revealed details of the US special forces operation in Venezuela early this morning.
"They're going to New York. They're being indicted in New York. They were initially taken to a ship, the Iwo Jima, and they're going to continue to New York. They were taken by helicopter. A nice flight, I'm sure they enjoyed it," Trump said earlier.
Although the president did not want to reveal details of the special forces operation before his scheduled press conference, he indicated that it was a "detailed" capture operation, in which, according to him, "they practiced and planned everything."
According to US media, the operation was carried out by an elite Delta Force unit, which pulled Maduro and Flores out of bed and put them in a helicopter.
During the operation, Trump claimed that one of the helicopters was hit by gunfire, but no casualties were reported from the US military.
