"We received guarantees", Meeting with Trump, Osmani: We raised the
Rama, Osmani and Trump at the Peace Board

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has revealed that in the meeting between her, Prime Minister Edi Rama and US President Donald Trump, the issue of The Hague and the 4 leaders for whom 45 years in prison have been requested for each was discussed.

Osmani was reserved and did not give many details about what they discussed with Trump, but in an interview for the show "Rubikon" on Klan Kosova, the Kosovo president said that she and Prime Minister Rama will talk in more detail about this issue "when the time comes." She emphasized that they have received strong guarantees from the American president.

"We have discussed. I had asked for your understanding. I do not believe that it is in the interest of Kosovo if we provide more details about this. However, I want to assure you that we have discussed both topics and we have received strong guarantees. Of course, when the time comes, both I and Prime Minister Rama will talk in more detail about this topic, but we have informed him in detail about these two topics, and I want to say again, today has been an exceptionally good day for Kosovo," she said.

The President of Kosovo said that the participation of Kosovo and Albania in the Peace Board has raised the two countries to a new level in the international arena. She expressed her conviction that becoming part of the peace board will give her country opportunities for new recognition.

"We are blessed, both Kosovo and Albania are together on the Peace Board as the only two countries in the Western Balkans, which means that both of our countries are rising to a higher level of international representation, and this is happening thanks to American trust. But in general, it is also a good opportunity to discuss moving forward with many other allied countries, and all of this is happening within the framework of the Peace Board. Participation in the Peace Board, like the first time when I was in Davos, like in Washington, has opened important paths for us with different states, member states including non-recognizing states. This has truly raised the Republic of Kosovo to a new level in terms of representation in the international arena," she said.

The Hague issue was also raised by Prime Minister Edi Rama in Washington during the Peace Board meeting, requesting the intervention of US President Donald Trump.

He recalled that former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi was arrested shortly before traveling to the US to sign an agreement with Serbia, by the same prosecutor, Jack Smith, who had persecuted the American President himself.
