Much more than just a group of greedy rich people looking for new sex slaves: the network of relationships built by Jeffrey Epstein is increasingly emerging as one of the most sophisticated espionage operations of recent decades, a machine that has taken the Russian art of "compromise" to unprecedented levels, that is, placing key people in compromising situations in order to keep them under control.

According to intelligence sources cited by the Mail on Sunday, it seems increasingly clear that the American paedophile tycoon had set up "the world's largest 'honey trap' operation" on behalf of the KGB: Epstein would provide girls for the world's powerful in the service of the Russian, and possibly Israeli, secret services, so that they could be blackmailed.

Ghislaine Maxwell's father

It all ties to Epstein's friendship with Robert Maxwell, the British media mogul who died mysteriously in 1991, apparently after falling from his yacht, a version that few have believed.

Maxwell, of Jewish origin from Czechoslovakia, is suspected of having worked for both the KGB and Mossad, since the 1970s when he helped Soviet Jews emigrate to Israel. Epstein was introduced to Maxwell by a Russian oil tycoon, also connected to the Kremlin. With Epstein's help, Maxwell laundered Moscow funds in the West.

After Maxwell's death, the American financier was joined by Ghislaine, the media baron's daughter, who became his associate and lover. Maxwell had embezzled the pension funds of his newspapers and that money was never found: many believe it was recycled by Epstein and that the management of that treasure was the link that united him with Ghislaine.

Like Maxwell, Epstein died mysteriously in prison in 2019, officially a suicide, while Ghislaine is serving a 20-year sentence in the US for prostitution of minors and is still negotiating for a reduced sentence in exchange for information.

Friendship with Moscow

The newly released files contain 9,629 references to Russia and 1,056 to Vladimir Putin: it turns out that Epstein met the Russian president several times, even after his first conviction for sex crimes. He boasted in messages that he could provide the Kremlin with information on Donald Trump, through meetings with the Russian ambassador in New York and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. These email exchanges took place on the eve of the 2018 summit between Trump and Putin, after which the US president declared that there was no evidence of Russian interference in his election.

Epstein is also linked to Masha Drokova, a former leader of the pro-Putin youth movement who later became a businesswoman in San Francisco. Intelligence sources believe her company, Day One Ventures, was set up to steal technology secrets. The FBI contacted Drokova, but she avoided talking about Epstein.

A book published in 2021 by investigative journalist Craig Unger claims that it was Epstein who served as a go-between between Trump and Putin's circle, using Russian organized crime to provide young women to his powerful friends, including the future US president.

In London

It is no wonder that in one email Epstein promised Prince Andrew a “beautiful and trustworthy Russian woman” aged 26. The prince’s biographer, Andrew Lownie, has documented that young women from Moscow were sent directly to Andrew’s residences in England for the weekend and then returned to the airport. Lownie believes that the Kremlin has an extensive dossier on the British royal, possibly including images, to blackmail the royal family and, by extension, Britain.

The leaked documents also show payments of $75,000 from Epstein to Lord Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the US, who resigned in November over his links to the financier. Mandelson, known as the “prince of darkness”, was one of the architects of New Labour and Tony Blair’s closest adviser.

Other documents show that the FBI was convinced that Epstein was a Mossad spy, trained by Ehud Barak, the former Israeli prime minister, with whom they constantly exchanged messages. In the end, a web of intrigue that casts an even more frightening shadow over the perversities of a powerful group of people.
