At least three people have died and 20 others have been injured after the cable car derailed in Lisbon and collided with a building.
The director of Civil Protection, Margarida Castro Martins, told the Lusa news agency that two people are in critical condition, five have minor injuries and some are trapped in the rubble. The injured suffer from fractures and trauma.
It is said that the iconic funicular (cable car on rails) fell from a great height due to a broken cable. Most of it was destroyed.
The da Glória cable car, which can carry up to 43 people, is one of Lisbon's landmarks and is very popular among tourists visiting the city.
It connects the lower part of the city center of the Portuguese capital with Barrio Alto, and is the most popular means of transportation for tourists. Ambulances, firefighters and Civil Protection vehicles were at the scene to pull the injured out of the rubble.
