Allison Guerreiro, the 52-year-old ex-girlfriend of disgraced FBI agent Charles McGonigal, has died at her home, British tabloid Daily Mail reports.

Guerreiro's father stated that his daughter passed away on August 27, at her home in Florida, but according to him, she would never have committed suicide.

Guerreiro was one of the people who revealed information that led to the conviction of the former FBI counterintelligence chief in New York, providing details about his illegal activities, bribes he received and collaboration with a Russian oligarch.

The former top FBI agent has been convicted in two separate trials in the US, receiving a total of two separate prison sentences for his illicit ties to a Russian oligarch and for hiding money and contacts in Albania.

In December 2023, a New York court sentenced him to 4 years and 2 months in prison and a $40,000 fine. McGonigal pleaded guilty to conspiracy and violating U.S. sanctions by helping Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska seek removal from a U.S. sanctions list.

In February 2024, the Washington Federal Court sentenced McGonigal to 28 months in prison, after finding him guilty of receiving $225,000 in cash from a former Albanian intelligence agent, Agron Neza, and of concealing official contacts and undeclared meetings with Albanian officials, including Prime Minister Edi Rama.

McGonigal was one of the FBI's top counterintelligence officials and is one of the highest-ranking agents of this institution to ever be convicted of criminal offenses in US history.
