The New York Post newspaper has published photos from the lives of two sons allegedly fathered by Russian President Vladimir Putin with former gymnast Alina Kabaeva .

According to the American newspaper, the photos show 10-year-old Ivan and 6-year-old Vladimir Junior training to become gymnasts like their mother.

Ivan even gave an interview in which he talked about the "beautiful" gymnastics moves he learned from Olympic champions Alexei Nemov, Evgenia Kanaeva, and Tagir Khaibulaev.

The footage reportedly comes from an event that Kabaeva organized in January at the academy that bears her name.

The New York Post reports that Vladimir Putin has erected a shield for the two boys for fear they will be killed.

For this reason, the two children and their mother are said to be living in a fortified forest compound in Valdai, northwest of Moscow.

The boys also use the pseudonym Spiridonov as their surname.

“Information about [Kabaeva] and her children has been deleted from state databases, the boys have been given a pseudonym – Spiridonov, and the entire area around Putin’s family residence in Valdai is under tight security,” according to journalists Roman Bananin and Mikhail Rubin.

It is noted that Spiridonov is the name of Putin's paternal grandfather, who lived from 1879 to 1965.

Putin and 41-year-old Kabaeva have been reported to be in a relationship since 2008, however, this has never been publicly confirmed.
