Donald Trump "threatens" countries that rejected the "Peace

World leaders and national delegations are gathering today in Washington, DC for the inaugural meeting of Donald Trump's Peace Council.

In his opening remarks, Trump said the Peace Board is "one of the most important and consequential things" he has been involved in and praised the countries and leaders who are participating.

He also expressed optimism that other countries invited to the Peace Board would accept the US offer, as many key US allies declined invitations.

"Almost everyone has been accepted, and those who haven't will be," he said. "Some are playing the part of a slightly cool person. It doesn't work. You can't play cool with me," he said.

The United Kingdom, France, Norway, Sweden and Slovenia are among the countries that have said they will not join, partly because of concerns that it could sideline the UN.

About two dozen countries have joined this board, which Trump chairs.

The Peace Board was originally conceived as a limited body tasked with overseeing the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which was devastated by the Israel-Hamas war. However, according to the draft charter, its mission has since expanded to address conflicts around the world.
