Albania has been widely promoted these last two years and continues to be promoted, promising record numbers for this year as well. The number of foreigners who have entered the territory of Albania so far is 1.5 million, figures that promise a good tourist season. But what is the expected number of foreigners who will visit Albania throughout the year 2024?

This year is continuing to enjoy the success it left behind in 2023 and is giving clear signals that it will be an even better tourist year. Official projections speak of a figure of 14 million tourists expected this year.

But how was this figure reached?

"Scan Intel" has made a simple calculation based on INSTAT data over the past years, to see the trend of the number of entries and to make a prediction based on this trend.

In the first three months of the year, the number of foreigners who came to our country was recorded at around 1.5 million, from 1 million in the previous year.

So, we have an increase in the number of foreigners who entered our country by 43%. Only during the month of March of this year, about 565 thousand foreigners entered the territory of Albania.

In the first three months of 2022, about 671 thousand foreigners were registered, marking an increase of 31% compared to 2021. On the other hand, in 2023, during the first quarter, the number of entries from foreigners was about 1 million, increasing by 59%, compared to 2022.

Let's look at the trend of the May-September period of the last two years to have a more complete overview. This period is taken as a comparison, since the summer season extends during these months and the flow of tourists also increases. What is expected to be their number in 2024?

In 2021, along this time frame, about 4.1 million foreigners were registered in our country, while in the same period of 2022, about 5.3 million foreigners were registered, marking an increase of 29%. Based on INSTAT data, 6.6 million foreigners came to our country last year, thus increasing by 24%.

So, in the May-September period of the last three years, it seems that the number of foreigners has recorded a constant increase with approximately 1.2 million foreigners.

If we follow the same logic and the same rate of growth, we can predict that in the same period of this year, approximately 8 million foreigners may visit our country.

To have a clearer picture, we analyze the number of entries on an annual basis. In 2021, which was a year shortened by the pandemic, the number of entries was 5.6 million, while in 2022 the number increases by 32% or 1.3 times higher, reaching 7.5 million entries. On the other hand, in 2023, the number of foreigners who entered the territory of Albania was 10.1 million, registering an increase compared to 2022 by 1.3 times or 34.6%. So, if this year the number of entries would increase by 1.3 times, we can say that in Albania throughout the year 2024 the number of entries will be recorded at approximately 13 million or something more.

So, if these growth rates continue, it is possible to reach the projection that Albania will have at least 13-14 million tourists this year.
