"Scan Intel" has analyzed official figures from the Bank of Albania as well as historical data to understand the progress of the level of deposits according to districts. This calculation includes the amount of deposits in the banking sector according to 8 main districts which are reflected in the institution's statistics, while 4 other districts are summarized as "other".
Deposits by county refer to total deposits, that is, individuals and businesses, and the period considered is that of the first quarter of the current year. According to official data, total deposits in the banking sector have reached the level of about 1.6 trillion ALL, an increase of 5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. So it is about 7.7 billion ALL more in the banks.
According to official figures, we find that the level of deposits in these 3 months has increased in all districts. The highest growth occurs in the district of Lezha with a full 17% during the first quarter of the year. After Lezha comes Fieri with 10%, then Vlora with 7% and Durrës and Tirana with 5% growth. Meanwhile, Shkodra, Elbasani and Korça are the districts with the lowest increase in deposits during this period of time. While the counties of the "other" category increased by only 4%.
If we look at the figures of deposits by district and currency, we understand that for all cities except Vlora, the same applies: the growth of deposits in Lek is higher than that of deposits in foreign currency. Meanwhile, in the city of Vlora, the growth of deposits in foreign currency was 2 percentage points higher than that in local currency. On the contrary, in Tirana and in other districts, the growth of deposits in lek has been significantly higher than the growth of deposits in euros.
