The sale of electronic cigarettes to those under the age of 18 is prohibited

The sale of tobacco products, cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and hookahs will be prohibited to all persons under the age of 18. The Parliamentary Committee on Health has discussed and approved the initiative of MPs Erion Braçe and Etilda Gjonaj, which aims to protect minors from becoming addicted to tobacco and electronic cigarettes. The proposed legal changes also aim to ban their direct and indirect advertising as well as their bidding.

Deputy Erion Braçe has emphasized that in order to implement this initiative, the large distribution companies of these products as well as the large supermarkets should be responsible for this. On the other hand, he emphasized that these products should also be included in taxation.

"We must hold the large distribution companies responsible, they must be held responsible for where it is sold, the large supermarkets must be held responsible, today there are no signs in the supermarkets".

The law provides for the strengthening of administrative sanctions for violators of the law, as well as the prohibition of advertising and sponsorship in media channels.
