Oil price is 'saving' fish, fishermen demand Government intervention

The rise in the price of oil has hit the fishing industry hard, since almost a month has greatly reduced sea exits, although at this time of year it is the most productive fishing season.

In Vlora, Kukes and Durres fishermen complain that rising oil prices have forced them to turn off fishing boats. According to reports in the Voxneës.al, fishermen seek government intervention.

Fishermen benefit from preferential oil prices, where a letter currently receives 160 to 170 leks. But they say that compared to a month ago, when the price was somewhere 100 to 120 leks, they are forced to either increase fish prices or turn off ships.

According to fishermen's estimates, the cost of an average fishing boat only fuel goes up to 50,000 lek for each several-hour outing at sea for fishing.
