As oil has reached high prices, 261 ALL / liter, Confindustria has asked the government to change the composition of the Transparency Board.
Full notice
Confindustria demands that the government change the composition of the Transparency Board, excluding representatives of fuel operators as voting members in decision-making. It is unacceptable and completely unreasonable for decision-making to be determined precisely by the subjects, who should be the object of observation for possible speculations in the market and for whom the purpose of creating the Transparency Board itself is justified.
Confindustria considers that it is necessary to establish the Fuel Regulatory Authority as a professional institution, permanent and dependent on the Albanian Parliament according to similar examples of Northern Macedonia.
Confindustria estimates that the current composition, one-sided data sources and the lack of independent and professional members, create large spaces for inaccurate interpretation, subjectivism and corruption of the type "state capture" in the decisions of the Board of Transparency. His role so far has been only acting as a "state shield" against anti-market speculation of operators to the detriment of the public interest, business and citizens.
Confindustria estimates that the only beneficiaries of the Transparency Board's way of working so far are: -forced increase of revenues for the State Budget, which for a period of 5 months has increased revenues by nearly 350 million euros more than planned as and - fuel companies. There are also reasonable suspicions of fiscal concealment and smuggling worth hundreds of millions of euros / year in the fuel market. Both of the above parties absurdly and beyond any model are constituent parties of the Transparency Board.
Confindustria expresses its concern about the increase to a new record level of fuel prices to over 2.2 euros / liter by decision of the Transparency Board, one of the highest in Europe. The new prices further deepen the gap with the countries of the Region, with devastating consequences for the national economy, business and citizens.
Confindustria demands once again the immediate intervention of the government to alleviate the fiscal burden in order to reduce the price of fuel.
