Economic freedom, our country loses points. What remain the main problems

The index published by the "Heritage Foundation" speaks of a contraction of economic freedom in Albania for the year 2024.

Albania is rated with 64.8 points, while a year ago it was rated with 65.3 points. In the regional ranking, Albania holds the 27th place, while in the world ranking, the 48th place.

According to the areas that the report analyzes to measure economic freedom, the bottleneck for Albania is the integrity of the government, which measures the level of corruption, nepotism and bureaucracy in public services and is evaluated with 36.6 points, followed by the legal system and financial freedom, both with 50 points .

Our country gets the highest rating in the "fiscal burden" gauge, where it is rated with 88.8 points.

According to the standard of the index, the economy of Albania is considered by the report as an "average free" country.

According to the explanation provided by the Index, a state's economic freedom defines individual autonomy: the freedom of choice enjoyed by individuals in obtaining and using economic goods and resources, without government interference.
