While the increase in electricity production capacity seems to have focused on solar power plants, during 2024 a number of licenses for hydropower plants were also granted. According to official data from the Energy Regulatory Agency, there are 7 entities licensed in the activity of producing electricity from hydro sources, while the number of HPPs that are expected to be built by them is 8. As for the installed capacity, we are talking about plants small, while the total installed power reaches almost 31 MW.

These licenses are added to those given for solar energy, which throughout this year counts a number of licensed companies. Until this period of the year, there are 10 licensed companies, while the total capacity for their projects is 202.6 MW. This trend follows that of the last 2 years, which has been characterized by an increase in the number of companies licensed to produce electricity from the sun.

Meanwhile, the situation for wind energy, which currently remains unused in our country, is different. Even during this year, no company has been licensed in this activity, as there are only 2 active licenses granted by the Energy Regulatory Authority in the years 2007-2008.
