Commission for confiscated illegal constructions. It will be a collegial body

The government has defined new rules for the functioning of the Commission of Confiscated Objects. The commission is based on the law adopted in 2023, which provides for the confiscation of constructions without permission to be used for public purposes or social housing.

Referring to the decision, the Commission will be a collegial body, which will be created under the State Cadastre Agency. It consists of 9 (nine) members appointed by the head of the institution. The mandate of the member of the Commission will be 3 (three) years, with the right to reappointment.

Decisions made by the Commission will be binding to be implemented.

The commission must meet whenever it is necessary to examine a case or case, but not less than 6 (six) times a year.

The process of confiscation of buildings with illegal additions started last year, with approximately 24 objects confiscated in total, where only from the first nine objects 10.5 million euros were collected in the state coffers.

3.5 million euros were collected for five objects and 7 million euros for another four from the process of punishing the builders who exceeded the limits of building permits and the lack of interest from the owners to pre-purchase these square meters.
