The Tirana Administrative Court has suspended the execution of the 1.5ml euro fine with which the Competition Authority fines the three largest companies in the chemical waste import market, on the grounds that they have violated free market rules.
He was himself the chairman of the Competition Authority, Denar Biba, who has announced that fines have been suspended after complaining about three companies being fined.
"Even the last fines, which received some kind of publicity, have been complained to the court and yesterday it was decided by the Administrative Court of the First Degree the suspension of fines has been imposed", Biba said during reporting to the Economics Commission.
The highest fine, about 1 mln euros, was imposed on the Agro Blend company of former Democratic Mayor of Vora, Fiqiri Ismaili.
Meanwhile, the decision to suspend the fine is no surprise, according to MP Erion Brache.
"The chemical waste market, for which there is also a decision that is already in court, does not excite me at all as long as there is political support even in court and wherever you want you will go," he said.
Brache accused the Government of being reluctant to make transparency in this market.
"How long does the government, even though it says it by word of mouth, take no measure to do the verifications through the board, without question that the court will go to court, and it is no surprise that in the courts that we have we get the right," he stated.
Brache accused chemical waste import companies of having large profit margins, between 25 and 50 percent above the price at which they import these products.
