Elon Musk has become the first person in history to reach a fortune of around $1 trillion, following the debut of SpaceX on the US Nasdaq stock exchange.
According to market data, SpaceX opened at $150 per share on its first day of trading, significantly boosting the company's value and Musk's personal fortune. His stake in SpaceX alone is valued at over $766 billion.
Combined with his Tesla shares, which are worth around $280 billion, Musk's total wealth from these two companies is estimated at around $1.05 trillion.
This development comes after SpaceX's entry into the public markets, which has also led to the creation of thousands of millionaires and several new billionaires among the company's employees and executives.
Musk's rise in wealth has also fueled global debates over economic inequality and the growing influence of founders of major technology companies in the US.
SpaceX shares rose more than 20% on its first day of trading, valuing the company at over $2 trillion, while Tesla also posted gains in the market.
Musk was first declared a billionaire in 2012, with a fortune of around $2.4 billion, and in the last decade his wealth has grown rapidly and steadily, making him today the richest figure in the world.
According to Forbes and Bloomberg, his wealth now exceeds the sum of the other five richest billionaires in the world combined.
