The procedure for the Hani i Hotit-Rinas railway is canceled

The tender procedure for the construction of the Hani i Hotit-Rinas railway has been canceled, despite having advanced to the final stage of selecting the winning operator. 

The news was confirmed by the director of the Albanian Railways, Ergys Verdho, after MCN TV's interest regarding the progress of the project.

According to Verdho, the competition was opened in the spring of last year and continued normally until the final phase, but then its cancellation was decided during the month of November.

After this, the procedures were reopened in December, paving the way for a new competition process for the implementation of the railway project.

"The competition started in the spring of last year. It went all the way to the finals and was canceled in November. In December, the procedures were reopened. Yesterday we received the facility for the second phase.

We have seen the qualification of three companies that will now compete on price for the next 45 days. By September we could have a winning firm. 

"The financing is over. We have received both the loan and the grant, it is 50-50. There are two Turkish companies and one Italian in the race," he said.

The project is considered one of the most important investments in the railway sector, as it aims to improve the connectivity of the north of the country with Rinas International Airport.
