The body of the 29-year-old Albanian who lost his life on March 20 in Olmo, an area near Arezzo in Italy, has been handed over to the family, who have opened the doors for the funeral reception.

Gjergj Pergegaj will be taken to his birthplace in Albania for burial, after having lived in Italy for about five years.

He was working in construction and was shot by a fellow countryman, Edison Beluli, 35, according to Italian media reports.

A young woman is suspected to be at the center of the conflict. The forensic examination conducted in Siena has revealed important details about the wounds: a bullet fired at close range in the throat area proved fatal, while another hit her in the chest.

Two more shots did not touch the victim.

The woman believed to be involved in the clash between the two men worked near the bar where the incident occurred.

She had previously been in a relationship with the victim, and then began a relationship with the alleged perpetrator. There had also been previous conflicts between them.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., when Pergegaj was shot with a Glock pistol, which turned out to have been stolen a year ago in Assisi.

According to investigations, the weapon was obtained by the perpetrator a few days before the crime.

Beluli is already in prison, charged with intentional murder. Investigating judge Claudio Lara has emphasized that there are strong elements that suggest premeditation, despite the fact that there was no physical fight between the parties.

The incident was recorded by security cameras. A third person intervened to stop the perpetrator while the victim was on the ground.

The suspect then fled towards Rigutin, where he lived, but was arrested by the police.

As of today, the victim's family has begun procedures for the repatriation of the body and the organization of the funeral ceremony, which is expected to take place soon.

Pergegaj lived in Frassineto and is described by acquaintances as a quiet and hardworking person. The arrested man has chosen not to give evidence so far and is represented by lawyer Luca Turchetti.
