Tirana Police have referred to the Special Prosecution Office the materials on the complaint filed by journalist Besarda Demushi against DP MP Edi Paloka and candidate Klevis Balliu, for the criminal offense of intimidation due to duty.

This criminal proceeding comes immediately after the incident that occurred during the protest on Friday (May 16), where Paloka and Balliu attacked journalists.

They prevented the media from interviewing the journalist in question, who then filed a complaint with the Tirana Police. Due to jurisdiction, the file was forwarded to SPAK for further action.

Preliminary actions were carried out by Police Station No. 3, which also has under its zonal administration the square where the DP protest took place, claiming vote theft by the majority on May 11.

"The Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 3 referred the materials to SPAK for citizens E. P and KB, after citizen BD, a journalist, reported that on 16.05.2025, on the New Boulevard, during the protest of the political entity Democratic Party, these citizens verbally threatened her because of their duty," the official police announcement states.

For days, DP MPs and leaders have insulted, attacked, and anathemaed the media and journalists after losing the parliamentary elections, finding the cause not within the party and its structures, but in them.
