Summer season, Hoxha warns arsonists: Criminal act, no case will remain without accountability

Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha said that funds for firefighting forces will be increased through the state budget to cope with the fire situation, especially during the summer.

In a meeting with 61 Fire Service leaders in the country, the minister said that the focus should be on preventing and punishing arsonists.

"No case should and will remain without accountability. Fire is not just a natural phenomenon, it is often a criminal act. Faced with the challenges of fires, we need more than reaction. We need prevention. For this, we need close cooperation with all local emergency structures, with administrative units, with mayors, with civil society and the citizens themselves. You need to strengthen coordination at the local level, carry out preliminary inspections in high-risk areas, increase preparedness and implement local emergency plans," he said.

Hoxha announced that work is being done to equip firefighting structures with the most appropriate tools and working environments.
