Eduard and Enkelejda Danaj

A 40-year-old Albanian Enkelejda Danaj was killed by her husband the day before in Athens, a serious event that shocked public opinion.

According to the evidence collected so far by the homicide investigators, the suspected perpetrator Eduart Danaj had set up an ambush for the death of his ex-wife and when he saw her crossing the street, he approached her and started stabbing her repeatedly, hitting her more more than 10 times.

He then fled the scene, went to a hotel and tried to hide in a building where he reportedly worked. He also had cans of beer with him, consuming a large amount of alcohol.

Even during cohabitation with the victim, he was a regular drinker and after getting drunk, he beat her. After several hours of searching, the Greek authorities managed to find him and handcuff him.

At the time of his arrest, the alleged attacker was under the influence of alcohol and did not seem to understand what had happened. Police describe him as a cynical man who showed no remorse for his actions.

He finally confessed to the murder with shocking claims: I woke up in the morning and went to wait for him because I knew it was going to be 5:30 in the morning. When I saw him, I took out my knife and started stabbing him. Then I left on foot and went to a hotel. I sat there for a while and then went to the construction site and had a few beers until I was finally arrested.

Asked by the police why he committed the serious crime, the author allegedly replied that "I couldn't bear to see him driving my car. I was working and she was eating my money."

She had denounced him three times.

The last time the woman crossed the threshold of the police station to denounce him again for domestic violence (threats, physical injury and insults) was on May 7, 2024. Then the man was arrested and sent to the prosecutor's office, while he was expected to appear in court this on friday.

In a video document brought to light by protothema.gr, the woman's voices and pleas for help are heard during a fierce fight between the victim and the perpetrator that happened last Monday evening.

As the 40-year-old had said in her testimony at the time, they had been together for 14 years, had two children, a 21-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, but they had not gone well as a couple as there was always violence and threats .
