Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, has warned against releasing the names of former LSI officials, who, according to him, should be brought to justice today instead of Ilir Meta, regarding the accusations of lobbying in the US.
Cakrani said that at that time the SMI had its own structure with MPs and ministers, without clarifying whether the people he accuses collaborated or acted behind Meta's back.
"Here, people who should have been defendants are witnesses. Many other people who were part of the LSI who should have been officially defendants, and not Mr. Meta, are today free and exercise public functions. The names will come at a time when we will make them public," Cakrani declared at the entrance to SPAK, in front of a group of journalists.
He said that the trial against Meta will be the "trial of the century," meaning the large number of names and accusations of the people involved, in addition to his client, who was officially charged today with three counts: passive corruption, money laundering, and concealment of assets.
"There are other people who are also responsible for lobbying, and they have signed and are known in the US. The names will come out, and after you read the files. This matter will last, all those people who have signed will be called. This will be the trial of the century", said Ilir Meta's lawyer.
