Two Albanians have been arrested while trying to enter England hidden in trucks. According to British media, the Albanians were arrested by French police in Calais on Friday, while the truck they were traveling in was preparing to board a ferry.
"One was carrying a pistol with a silencer," a source told the Daily Mail.
"There are fears that the Albanians may be gangsters who intended to meet with other Albanian underworld figures in Britain," it further states.
The number of Albanians entering Britain via the Channel route rose sharply in 2022, with more than 17,000 individuals applying for asylum. By 2024, that figure had fallen to below 3,000, according to the Migration Observatory's analysis of Home Office figures in October.
