A serious criminal incident shook Lezha, bringing back to mind the old wound of blood feud. A day earlier, a bloody assassination attempt was recorded in Balldren where spouses Kreshnik and Gentjana Mujeci were executed in their vehicle with a hail of bullets.

The family members have opened the doors of the morgue and are preparing to say their final goodbyes to the two parents of four minor children. Through social media, they have announced that the funeral ceremony will take place tomorrow in the village of Mali Kolaj.

We recall that the attack occurred on Sunday afternoon, where the vehicle in which the couple was traveling was fired upon with a hail of bullets, leaving them with no chance of escape.

Meanwhile, photos of two of the suspected perpetrators of the crime, Florin Mhillaj and Renato Mhillaj, have also been published. The third suspect is Adriano Mhillaj, who, along with two other members of his tribe, are wanted by the police.

According to investigative sources and security camera footage, the entire incident lasted a little over a minute. The perpetrators, who were not wearing masks, acted with complete coolness, organizing a well-planned ambush.

Preliminary investigations indicate that this is an old conflict with revenge motives. Renato Mhillaj is the son of Genc Mhillaj, while Adriano and Florini are the nephews of the latter. The latter was killed in 2016, in an event for which Kreshnik Mujeci and his brothers were accused.

According to the police, the main motive is a blood feud, as it is suspected that the perpetrators intended to avenge a murder that occurred a decade ago. The incident at that time took place in the Shkodra area, where after a brief conflict, Genc Mhillaj was shot to death.

Although the court acquitted the accused for lack of evidence in 2018 and the Court of Appeal upheld the decision a year later, the case was returned for retrial in 2024 by the Supreme Court. Despite this, it seems that the conflict between the families never subsided.
