Announcement from the Directorate of Prisons:

Today, on May 19, 2025, at around 03:34, at the Fushë-Krujë Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions, the detainee Qani Hamit Muça was found hanged in the toilet of the room where he was staying, in the area of ??the ventilation grille.

The incident occurred in sector 2, second floor, building B, where the deceased was staying with five other detainees.
According to preliminary information, at around 03:34, one of the detainees noticed that Muça was arriving later than usual.

The latter opened the door and found Qani Muça hanging from the window grille. The security service, the institution's medical assistant, the Krujë Judicial District Prosecutor's Office and the Internal Control Service in Prisons (SHKBB) were immediately notified.

The investigative teams arrived at the institution's premises around 04:00 and began procedures to document and investigate the incident.

The deceased, Qani Hamit Muça, born on 02.07.1967, born in Dibër and residing in Tirana, was divorced, had a secondary education and had no previous convictions.

He was arrested on 12.08.2024 for the criminal offenses: “Murder of public officials”, attempted; “Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” (Articles 79/a–22 and 278/1 of the Criminal Code). He was transferred to the Fushë-Krujë Prison on 28.09.2024 from the “Jordan Misja” Prison.
