The defense of Tirana Mayor Erjon Veliaj submits to the Constitutional Court the request to annul the prison sentence against the public official.

The request was submitted today and the lawyers are requesting that the prison sentences be declared unconstitutional because they are disproportionate.

Among several justifications, the constitutional court is told that even the Venice Commission report mentions the circumstances why a mayor or local government representative cannot be handcuffed.
