Announcement:

The Border Police of the port of Durres, following the crackdown on cross-border crimes, as a result of the intensification of controls, risk analysis and police intelligence, has, in cooperation with the port's customs authorities, cracked down on a case of attempted smuggling of goods.

In this case, a 28-year-old RS citizen, resident of Kukës, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties."

At the exit from the Republic of Albania, during a detailed search of the van of the RS citizen, 177 crates of cigarette packages were found, which he had hidden to avoid customs duties. The crates were seized as material evidence, along with the van.

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action.
