The High Court on Thursday rejected the request of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, to exclude the three judges, Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sander Simoni, from examining his appeal for the security measure "compulsory appearance". The decision was taken by Judge Enton Dhimitri, who confirmed the current composition of the panel for the case in question.

The case is related to the appeal that Berisha filed against the decision of the Court of Appeal, which confirmed the security measure "compulsory appearance" against him, within the framework of the investigations into the "Partizani" file, where he is accused of passive corruption of senior officials.

Initially, the hearing to review the appeal was scheduled to be held last Tuesday, but was postponed by the Supreme Court to April 22, 2025. At the same hearing, the Court will also review the appeal filed by Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, who is also under security custody for the same criminal case.

Berisha and Malltezi are under investigation for the affair known as "Partizani", where it is alleged that during the privatization of the former sports complex in Tirana, violations were committed and assets were illegally obtained by the former prime minister's son-in-law.
