The Special Anti-Corruption Court today rejected Jorgo Goro's request to postpone the execution of the criminal verdict against him.
The request of the former mayor of Himara was submitted on March 31, 2026 and aimed to suspend the decision of July 30, 2025.
But at the end of the hearing, the panel decided to consider it unfounded in evidence and law. Thus, Goro will continue to remain in prison to serve the remaining 6 months of his prison sentence.
The former mayor returned to prison on March 31 of this year, following a final decision by the Special Appeal of the Criminal Court of Kosovo, which confirmed the sentence of 2 years in prison, which, due to the summary trial, was reduced to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment.
SPAK requested on March 31 the return of the mayor of Himara to prison, as according to calculations made, taking into account the time spent in detention, he still has 6 months and 10 days left in prison.
Goro was placed in handcuffs on March 23, 2024, while during the investigation and trial at the Special Court he repeatedly pleaded innocence.
