The 4.3 magnitude earthquake with epicenter in Belsh, which shook residents of the area and other cities in the country at around 8:00 PM, is no reason for panic, according to seismologist Rrapo Ormeni.
On Dita Jonë on A2 CNN, the seismologist emphasized that the earthquake was felt strongly not only in the epicentral area, but also in Lushnje, Elbasan, Tirana and Berat and was accompanied by two aftershocks.
"There is no room for panic. The epicenter of the earthquake is 6 km west of Belsh and 11 km east of Lushnja, also 23 km southwest of Elbasan and 36 km south of Tirana. It was strongly felt in the epicentral area in Belsh and Lushnja with an intensity of 5 points. It was also felt in Tirana, there were 2 aftershocks. In Elbasan, Tirana and Berat it was felt with an intensity of 4 points."
He also showed the most active seismological areas of the country that occasionally generate earthquakes.
"The Lushnje-Elbasan-Dibar area is the most active area in the country, because it is a large fault that extends south to Vlora-Fier-Lushnjje-Dibar and goes all the way to Tetovo and Gjilan. This segment generates earthquakes from time to time. Earthquakes exceeding magnitude 4.5 usually cause damage."
According to him, tectonic movements also affect ground cracks, when there are earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.
