The Special Court postponed until May 21 the trial of the mayor of Roskovec, Majlinda Bufi, accused of "using her office for political and electoral activities."
The reason for the postponement was Bufi's absence. Through her lawyer, the mayor presented several travel tickets, among which she proved that she was abroad for several days, as a guest at a workshop.
" Because we are in the phase of the defense's conclusions, the defendant wants to be present ," said lawyer Klodian Skënderi.
The trial against Bufi has been postponed several times to give the accused time to prepare his defense, so much so that in the last session the court stated that in case of failure to prepare, it would consider it as a lack of will and would proceed to announce the verdict.
In its conclusions, SPAK found Bufi guilty and sentenced her to 1 year in prison, converted into 2 years of probation.
