The mother of the 11-year-old boy who was reported missing and later found this morning at the Port of Durres has spoken publicly for the first time.

She revealed that she sent her son to school but he never arrived.

She further stated that she looked for her son in the neighborhood and found no sign of him.

He then went to the Police Station, where he also filed a report.

"I sent the boy to school, in the school van, and when the boy didn't go to school, the teacher notified me. I woke up and went to the school, I searched the neighborhood, with the idea that he might have run away to play, but he didn't exist in the neighborhood. We opened the school's cameras but we didn't see anything. I didn't look for him yesterday and I had no contact. Then at 5:30 I came to the police station but I completed the report today," she said.

The minor's mother stated that she received a phone call from a woman who informed her that the 11-year-old was in the Port of Durres.

She further stated that she notified her brother, who later found her.

She also stated that she had punished her son after he had smoked cigarettes with a friend a few days ago.

"Today, after I filed the report, a woman called me two hours later and said, 'Your son was seen at the port of Durres.' The boy told the woman that he wanted to go to Kosovo, but she said, 'No, you'll stay here with us.' The boy started crying. I called my brother and he went straight there, and there were patrols there and they found the boy. I had 'punished' him because a few days ago he had smoked cigarettes with a 'mistrec' friend, and I had told him that I wouldn't give him any more money for food because you made a mistake at school," declared the 11-year-old's mother.

While further, she said that she did not know how the 11-year-old ended up in the Port of Durres. She also had an appeal for parents, saying that they should not leave their children alone.

"I have no idea how it got to the Port of Durres, but I hope to find out! I want to find out because tomorrow this could happen to me again, and I would ask every mother not to leave her child alone. As a mother, I have experienced it very badly and I will never leave her alone again in the world. Because it is a very great pain, both joy and pain, but I think that today we should dedicate ourselves more to children," she said.
