Albanian asylum seeker in Britain: I want to stay but I am alone and without
Enter, the 45-year-old Albanian asylum seeker in Britain

An Albanian asylum seeker who has taken shelter in a hotel in Devon with her two children has told about the miserable conditions she is living in, mentioning that her children are not eating because the food is "inedible".

The 45-year-old Albanian woman named Hyre arrived in Great Britain in September 2022 with her two children and for the last two months they have been staying in a hotel in the East Devon area.

She told the local media 'Devon Live' that her children, 16 and 14 years old, "don't eat any of the food they give in the hotel". In the provided photos, a meal of rice, chicken thighs, bananas and dates can be seen.

"My children do not eat any of the food they give us. They ask me to cook for them but I don't have a kitchen. I feel very bad when I see my children without eating," says the 45-year-old.

The Home Office says asylum seekers in hotels are offered three meals a day that meet National Health Service standards, as well as snacks and water. According to the NHS website, these standards include five fruits and vegetables a day, carbohydrates, protein and at least two portions of fish each week.

A Home Office spokesman said that despite the number of people arriving in Britain reaching record levels, “we continue to offer support to asylum seekers. We give them food and water and a weekly allowance.

“The food provided in asylum hotels meets NHS standards and meets all dietary requirements. Where concerns are raised, we work with the employees so that their requests are answered", says the spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior.
