Lawyer Kujtim Cakrani stated tonight on "Top Story" that his client, Ilir Meta, has no knowledge of the lobbying contract for which he is accused.
According to the lawyer, a member of the Freedom Party, which was called the Socialist Movement for Integration at the time, made the contract without informing Ilir Meta.
Kujtim Cakrani : In political parties, the leadership meets and decides on lobbying.
Arbër Hitaj : There is a lot of money that is unknown where it came from. SPAK suspects that this money is undeclared.
Kujtim Cakrani : Oh Arbër, you're acting as if Meta received this money. The money went for lobbying. Mr. Meta doesn't know anything. The lobbying contract is registered in FARA (Foreign Agents Registration Act). It was asked from which bank account this money came and they say they don't keep this data for more than 10 years. The contract was made by the Freedom Party, it appears they registered it in FARA.
Now, another PL character who was a member before and is now close to the prime minister (the name alluded to is Vangjel Tavo) has been linked to a Greek who had influence in the US and he has taken actions without Mr. Meta's knowledge. That character has been summoned to SPAK and says he knows nothing. While he is friends with the Greek, he has been in, out, and drinking. Mr. Meta has not signed.
