Armored vehicles and tactical equipment – EU approves third military

The Council of the European Union has approved the third bilateral support package for the Albanian Armed Forces under the European Peace Facility (EPF), worth 21 million euros.

With this decision, the European Union's total support for Albania in the field of defense reaches 49 million euros, aiming to strengthen the capacities and operational capabilities of the Armed Forces.

According to the EU Council, the new package complements previous support and aims to increase the ability of the Albanian army to deploy quickly and effectively, as well as to contribute more to the operations and missions of the European Union's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), as well as to international coalitions.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, described Albania as a close and reliable partner in the field of security.

"Albania is a close and reliable partner in foreign and security policy, an active contributor to European Union operations and a committed ally in NATO. Strengthening our security and defense cooperation with Albania directly strengthens European stability, security and peace," Kallas declared.

According to the adopted decision, the European Union will supply the Albanian Armed Forces with light multifunctional armored vehicles, tactical and engineering vehicles, as well as equipment and support services, including operational and maintenance training.

The Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, also reacted to this.
