The investigative show "Piranjat" scored an own goal tonight, completely invalidating the "goals" it made in previous shows. But Shkëlzen Berisha's move to television seems to have consequences at the expense of investigative journalism.
But what happened?
"Piranjat" published tonight the interview of an Italian citizen who invented some stories about incinerators. So far ok, because there are many who invent stories in favor of their interests. But in case it is even worse. After the businessman interviewed is Gabriele Tarroni, a person sentenced to 6 years in prison for fraud. So, how a convicted fraudster can be interviewed and believed, this can only be explained on Berisha's television. As it seems, following in the footsteps of Berisha, this declared non grata who attacks his opponents with lies has become a motto for "Syri" television as well.
Yes, not only that. The story gets even more serious. After con artist Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti uses a fabricated story to attack his former partner, businessman Alberto Presezzi. The latter was the person who denounced Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti in Albania for fraud.
The conviction of Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti in Albania
Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti, 50 years old, was arrested in April 2021 at the airport of Rinas, after the Court of Tirana had assigned to him the security measure "Arrest in prison" for the charge of fraud.
He was accused of international fraud against the company "BP" from which he stole the amount of about 1 million euros, as well as forgery of bank documents. In addition to him, the company "GALA" with headquarters in Tirana, with administrator Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti, has also been put under investigation. "The specialists for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime executed the decision of the Court, for the wanted Italian citizen GL, 49 years old, caught by the services of PKK Rinas, after the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana has set the security measure 'Arrest in prison' ', for the criminal offense 'Fraud'", explained the Police briefly at that time.
Gabriele Longinotti ended up in legal trouble since January 2020 when together with the Italian partner Alberto Presezzi, administrator and owner of the company "Bruno Presozzi" based in Italy (dealing with the import and export of meat all over the world) they created a company with headquarters in Albania with joint shares. The activity was actually intended to cover transactions originating in Mongolia and through Albania to Italy. The report was about money transfers and it was about a conflict that brought about the clash between two Italian businessmen. It was the Italian company "Bruno Presezzi" with owner Alberto Presezzi, which reported Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti, accusing her of not having passed an amount of 730,000 euros on account of a contract for the purchase of meat in Mongolia that was then to be passed in Albania.
But Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti, a year after the arrest, was released by the Court of Appeal in Tirana. Not because he was innocent, but because according to the Appeal, the criminal offense was not committed in Albanian territory. "The case in Appeal was examined on the basis of the appeal made by the defendant GTL, who requested the declaration of the lack of jurisdiction of the Albanian courts or the declaration of innocence, since it was not possible to prove the fact that he committed the criminal offense for which he is accused", it was said in the decision, while the 51-year-old was sentenced to 6 years in prison. This decision borders on scandal.
And yet, today the businessman convicted of fraud tries to take revenge on his former partner by using an Albanian television and cheating again. The height of hypocrisy!
