Southgate "dismisses" the defender of Man. United and the City striker

Coach Gareth Southgate has removed two big names from England's squad for the European Championship.

It is about Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire.

The Manchester United defender has been nursing a muscle injury since the start of May, while the Manchester City forward has been ruled out for a technicality after playing very little for the English champions.

Grealish played 36 games and scored three goals for the English champions this season. He activated them in just 27 minutes in the match of the English team against Bosnia, last Monday.

In a post on his Instagram account, Harry Maguire regretted not being physically fit:

"I am devastated that I have not been selected to play for England in this summer's European Championship. Despite my best efforts, I could not overcome a pulp injury. Maybe I tried too hard to get there. I'm just devastated.”

The defender emphasized the importance that the team has for him, but assured, despite the sadness, that he will support the English team during the competition:

"For me, representing England is the greatest honor. It means everything to me. If I can't help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan, along with the rest of the country. Go out there and win, guys!”

England is in Group C of Euro 2024, along with Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.
