Trouble for the Argentine Federation, under investigation by the American FBI

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has been put at the center of a new investigation by US authorities, who are analyzing international financial transactions worth over $300 million.

According to several reports from international media, the United States Department of Justice has taken a new step in this matter, while AFA president Claudio Tapia is with the Argentine national team at the 2026 World Cup.

FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors questioned businessman Guillermo Tofoni in a testimony session that lasted more than two hours. He was asked about commercial contracts and international transactions related to AFA.

The investigation focuses on financial operations conducted through banks and companies based in the United States, with the aim of determining whether there were violations of American legislation during the management of these agreements.

The amount being analyzed exceeds $300 million, making this one of the largest financial investigations to affect the Argentine Federation in recent years.

However, up to this stage, no official charges have been filed against the AFA or the individuals being investigated.

The case is still in the preliminary phase, where US authorities are collecting evidence and verifying whether there are irregularities in the federation's international financial operations.
