Ninth in the World Cup. An extraordinary result that had never been achieved by Albania in the sport of skiing.
The absolute protagonist was Lara Colturi, the champion representing the red and black colors. At the Flachau track in Austria, the 17-year-old broke all predictions and recorded a historic position, entering the world's "Top 10" for the first time.
Colturi started with the number 60 at the start of the race, but from the first descent showed that she would compete with the best skiers. She placed 26th, but the best would come on the second descent.
With an impressive performance, Lara recovered valuable seconds there, leaving behind even champions of the caliber of Shiffrin, who in the end was the winner.
With the ninth place in the World Cup, the skiing championship consolidates its positions in the "Top 30" of the general world classification in the slalom discipline.
"I am very happy for this race. Finally getting to do what I've been training for. In the first downhill, I started 60th in line, the track was not in good condition, but I qualified in the second one, where we gave our best and achieved that time".
The next stop for Lara Colturi will be next weekend in Jasna, Slovakia. It participates in World Cup competitions from November 2022.
