Eike Immel, former German goalkeeper (19 appearances for the Federal Republic of Germany), who during his career played for big football names such as Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart and Manchester City, is in a very difficult financial situation.
The 63-year-old, who hung his "gloves on the nail" in 1997 and earned millions of euros throughout his career, lives on welfare in a municipal apartment in his hometown (Stadtallendorf). He has only 2 euros left in his bank account from the amount that was transferred to him in the last month.
"Now I live on 1136 euros per month. 573 euros of this amount go to the rent, leaving me only 562 euros for other expenses. It's a real battle to make ends meet... Sometimes I only have 2 euros left," declared Eike Immel in "Stat 1".
"All the furniture in the apartment was forgiven and a friend who runs a restaurant allows me to eat for free", he explained./ Super Sport
