A fan was caught groping behind and even sticking his middle finger up the Sevilla player's ass as he prepared to take a throw-in during the first half of Monday's match.
Lucas Ocampos was the "victim" of this case, as he signaled the main referee about the incident, before continuing the game. The Argentine striker said he wants La Liga to treat the incident "as seriously as racism should be taken": "I kept calm because I have two daughters, I hope this does not happen to him in the future".
In a statement, Sevilla said: “We want to express our disgust as a club at the incident. Lucas Ocampo was subjected to a shameful and totally inappropriate act by a local fan. We hope that the appropriate measures set out in the regulations will be taken to prevent such behavior from being repeated on a football pitch. We have expressed this directly to La Liga."
Rayo Vallecano said it was working to identify the fan who made the ugly gesture and will take appropriate disciplinary action against him. "This isolated act is solely the individual responsibility of the fan who committed it," said a statement from the host club of the match.
"Rayo Vallecano is currently working to identify the fan so that, if he is a season ticket holder of the club, appropriate disciplinary measures can be taken in accordance with internal regulations."
