Prime Minister Edi Rama, present at the SP Assembly in unit number 3 in Tirana, said that Albanians finally have the chance to be part of that family they have always dreamed of, the European Union. He said that the chances for Albanian citizens, when our country is in the EU, will increase.
"Today Albanians are lucky and can go to the doors of Europe. Never before has Albanians had this luck. Albanians thought they would be fine, when communism came, when they thought there would be equality, but it ended in violence. Even after 1990, Albania had no dignity in the international arena and we were treated as if we were worse on all sides. Albania also did not have the proper development. We must use this time, as long as the EU has its door open.
"Today we have gained respect in the international arena. When we enter the EU, an Albanian will be equal to any citizen of another European Union country. Today you are illegal when you go to EU countries, while when Albania becomes an EU country, you can look for work in Italy, in Poland, wherever you want, or you will return here, it doesn't matter," said Rama.
He accused the opposition and other critics of casting aspersions on Albania, even in relation to European integration.
"We could not increase pensions earlier because the economy did not have as strong growth as today. But, we are now in a good moment and economic growth has begun. We will eventually reach reasonable pension levels for Albania. We will support families in need, military personnel, police officers, etc. If we move at the pace we have planned, the year 2030 will find us in the European Union. I feel very sorry for those who only throw bile at the country's integration into the EU. But, these biles against Albania do not hold water in the European Commission, where we submit work reports", declared the head of government.
Finally, he praised the role of women, stating that they are the true strength of the Socialist Party.
"Women are the real strength of the Socialist Party. In Dibra, I said a sentence and everyone jumped up and said, "What does this idiot say to the men of Dibra?" They told me that the men of Dibra will do this and that, and in the end, Dibra turned out to be like Vlora. We could have almost won the fourth mandate in this district. This happened because men go after women. Socialist women are the real strength of the SP ," Rama concluded.
Rama has begun a tour of meetings with socialists in the capital's districts. The meetings are held to discuss various issues, and come within the framework of the SP's preparations for the local elections.
