Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is accused by SPAK of being corrupted by businessman Fatmir Bektashi, who in the "Partizani" file is also accused of having laundered millions of euros from Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, by building several buildings on the land of the former sports complex.
One of the episodes that SPAK mentions is the payment that Bektashi made for the arrival of a well-known Italian singer in Albania.
Former Prime Minister Berisha revealed today during the protest from his house, that it is about the singer Riccardo Cocciante. Berisha said that Bektashi paid for his travel and two-day stay in Albania, while Cocciante was decorated during his visit by the President of the Republic at the time, the late Bujar Nishani.
According to Berisha, this event was historic, and he even publicly thanked Fatmir Bektashi.
"He paid for the trip and two nights of the famous Italian singer Riccardo Cocciante. It has been appreciated and decorated in the Presidency. For 4500 euros. I am grateful to Fatmir Bektashi. It has sponsored a great personality of Italian music, and not for a concert, but for a presidential ceremony", said Berisha.
In 2011, Cocciante visited Albania, together with the Albanian singer Elhaida Dani. At that time they were received in a meeting by the prime minister of that time, Sali Berisha.
