The Portuguese, Ruben Saravia , the suspected killer of Ardian Nikulaj in Shengjin, stayed for at least from February 14 when he came to Albania through Rinas airport, until April 19 when he executed the businessman in his "Coral" hotel, in a ground floor apartment in Kakarriq of Lezha.

This is not the only case when we have had hired killers ' imported ' from foreign countries, starting from the murder of Devi Kasmi and ending with the massacre in Tirana. 

On May 27, 2015 , on the day that Tirana was armored by the police for the visit of the Serbian president, on the other side of the boulevard, near the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Salvatore Letizia and Besnik Sulku attacked with weapons the vehicle that was moving Mentor Lufi and Gerti Goxhaj. The shootings were fatal for the victims, but also for the mastermind of the assassination, Sulku, who was shot dead by the grandchildren of the victims.

In addition to the serious incident that was motivated by revenge, what made an impression was the Italian Letizzia, who was arrested a few minutes later. According to the Italian media, Letizia was described as a cold-blooded killer, while she was part of the Camorra clans, becoming the first killer to be contracted to eliminate Albanians. But the name of Letizzia, who was sentenced to life in prison, was soon replaced by another hitman, this time a former part of the Greek Special Forces.

On January 29, 2018,  Efthimio Efthimiu was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Devi Kasmi, a short distance from his apartment on "Kongresi i Manastir" street in Tirana.

In addition to the murder of Kasmi, it was suspected that two years ago the former member of the Special Forces shot with a sniper at Nelgert Pata. The 34-year-old man survived the incident on Kavaja street, but was killed a short time later near the city of Fier, an incident which continues to be without a perpetrator.

After 2011, there has been a sophistication of paid killers in Albania. The most problematic category are " professional killers ". this category of killers is gradually taking organizational forms in the form of a criminal network, where the structure of "intermediaries" seems to be the most organized structure.

There is an increase in cooperation between businesses and hitmen, the latter are used by businesses for security issues or to eliminate their competitors. The category of "professional killers" includes two groups of killers: "movers" (those who are residents in one of the EU countries) and "residents" those who have returned to Albania.

There is a new approach of various criminal structures that are recruiting teenagers, who prepare them to commit murder.

Recruited young people come from families with members involved in previous criminal activity or are young people serving sentences for offenses such as theft or robbery.

These young people create connections with known exponents of crime in prisons, and are then used for threats and murder./ VoxNews
