Rama: It is absurd that judges in Albania demand a salary of up to 5,800 euros, while the SPAK Prosecutor gets 9,800 euros!

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in today's reaction to the judges' request for a salary increase, stated that this increase costs the state budget an additional 37 million euros and that the government is in a legal dispute with them in the Constitutional Court over this issue.

Rama publicly listed the salary figures requested for each level of the judicial system, from the First Instance to the Supreme Court, describing the initiative as unjustified and emphasizing that SPAK prosecutors have not joined this request.

"You, gentlemen, are asking for 37 million euros plus from the state budget to increase your salaries. This is the truth that the ball does not play and so that Albanians know what you are asking for and what we are in court with you for, in the Constitutional Court, Albanians should know that you are asking for the salary of the First Instance judge to go from 3360 euros to 5300 euros. You are asking for the salary of the Appeal judge to go from 3480, which is currently 3480 euros, to 5500 euros. You are asking for the salary of the Supreme Court to go to 5800 euros and you are asking for the salaries of SPAK prosecutors who, once again for SPAK, I single out because it has not joined and respected, has not joined this absurd effort, has not signed to be a party to the Constitutional Court to increase its salary to 9800 euros! 9800 euros!
