DOCUMENT published/ Sali Berisha candidate for Minister of Health in 1985 under the leadership of Ramiz Ali!

An archival material of the Ministry of Health, specifically the Personnel Directorate, is published, which, in a secret letter, sends the names of Sali Berisha as a possible candidate for Minister of Health, along with his profile data, to the Central Committee of the Albanian People's Party, on February 28, 1985.

To be transparent with the public, we are publishing today the first page of the archival document and the official letter, where on the left side the names of Petrit Gaça and Sali Berisha are listed as the two main candidates of the Central Committee's nomenclature for the position of Minister of Health.

Also listed below are the names of the doctors who are candidates for the position of Deputy Minister of Health or for other leadership positions, such as chief of staff and director of the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, which the Ministry of Health proposes to the KQPPSH.

The two doctors running for the position of minister, Gaçe and Berisha, the former part of the group of doctors who cared for the health of dictator Enver Hoxha, and Berisha a doctor of Hysni Kapo and later known in the circle of Hoxha's family.

The letter was sent to the Central Committee less than two months before Hoxha's death.

None of them managed to become Minister of Health under Ramiz Alija, except Sali Berisha, who seven years later became leader of the Democratic Party, a position he still holds today, after almost three decades./ VNA
