In a recent interview on the show "Breaking" with Fiori Dardha on Top News, Ervin Demo, former mayor of Berat and current candidate for deputy of the Socialist Party, shared with the public the untold stories of the campaign, political ambitions, and the transformation of the city of Berat.

Demo, who heads the closed list of the Socialist Party for the Berat region, emphasized that this decision is a natural step in his political career, aiming to represent the interests of citizens at the national level.

"I see it as a continuation of the work that we have started to do and the extraordinary change that the municipality of Berat has undergone. I believe that the Berat region now has a very good chance that in the years ahead we will really make a qualitative leap in terms of sustainable economic development, which comes as a result of support for various projects and from the central government. If we talk about Berat specifically, of course my focus is not discussed as being the Berat municipality for a very simple reason, because I know very well where the roof is leaking, what are the major projects that need to continue to be implemented. But what is important to understand is that the success of Berat is actually very closely linked to the success of the entire region, because if we talk about major projects like the Ballabani road that ends this year or the Skrapar road that starts in 2026, it is actually those investments that raise the municipality of Berat to a completely different level. Just from the Ballabani road, which is completed this year, we expect that next season the number of tourists will increase by 15 percent just from that investment. It is no coincidence that Berat 2024 has reached the figure of one million tourists and I am convinced that this year we will continue to have growth and definitely in the coming years and I believe that Berat within a period of 4-5 years will very quickly reach the figure of 2 million tourists.

Demo also showed that he has ambition and this is normal for a politician. "By definition, every individual who gets involved in politics has ambition, part of the reason for getting into politics is ambition, if there is no ambition, it is because we have chosen the wrong profession," he said.

Commenting on Prime Minister Edi Rama's prediction for the number of MPs in Berat and the reason why Rama did not predict one more MP there, Demo said:

"For a very simple reason, because in Berat it is not discussed that we get 5 mandates. Now how are we going to do 7 to 0 in Berat. Now the idea is very clear. Our electoral objective and I strongly believe that there is no chance that the Berat district will get less than 5 mandates. In fact, I believe that we are much more than the 5 mandate, but let's leave Sunday to show the final result. The clear result with the ratio of 5 to 2 is a very deep ratio.

Regarding the diaspora vote, Demo said that in the Berat region it is oriented to the left.

"There is no other way for three very simple reasons. The first is that the diaspora will reflect what the texture of voters in the region is and the region of Berat is a left-wing region. The second is that the texture of voters, especially in the area where Berat has the majority of immigrants, especially Greece, Italy, the countries that are nearby, is definitely clearly in favor of the Socialist Party. And the third, which is also equally important, is that we have tried to convey the voice among our supporters that they have a golden opportunity wherever they are in the world, to express their conviction and their support for the Socialist Party by voting, and of course we have immobilized all our supporters, who, starting from Berat, have the largest number of registered voters.
