The European Union has invited Albania to open another chapter of membership negotiations.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the news through a post on Facebook.
"Today, on July 23, 2025, following Albania's continued and dynamic progress on the path of accession negotiations with the European Union, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union authorized the Danish Presidency to invite Albania to present its Negotiating Position for the negotiations related to the chapters that make up Chapter Group 5: Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion," Rama writes.
So far, 24 chapters out of the 33 needed to complete the negotiations have been opened. Albania aims to fully open all chapters by the end of 2025 and complete the negotiations by 2027, with the aim of becoming an EU member around 2027.
